Inauguration Style

Michelle Obama, no doubt a stylish First Lady, always does a good job looking professional and polished. Unsurprisingly, at the Inauguration Ball, she looked absolutely stunning. She had chosen again to have her dress designed by Jason Wu; she obviously choose wisely. The ruby chiffon and velvet gown was a masterpiece. Paired with simple crystal bangles, it was very elegant, perfect for the event and her status as the Lady of the U.S.

Runway nail art: Chanel's Pre fall line

Most of us can't afford to buy Chanel a jacket. Or purse. Or anything Chanel at all. However, I believe I have found a solution. Nail polish is quite cheap, so that means you can have channel nails! To demonstrate this I will use Chanel's most current line.

So, nail art...
Step 1: Apply the plaid
Step 2: Add some gems to any nail you choose(represents the necklaces)
Step 3: Moss green to any nail you choose(represents the green leather trench)
There you have it: Chanel nail art.

January is gloomy. By this time, everyone is done with the dreary chill of winter and ready for the mild weather of spring. What better to cheer yourself up is there than to get a brand new purse, and in a bright color. Why not make it neon pink?

Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall Collection 2012

When you think of fashion the 60's, you think of bright colors and color blocked prints. This is nearly an exact description of the latest Proenza Schouler line. Yet somehow, this new line is very modern, urban chic. The rich jewel tones are mesmerizing; the deep blue color shown above is probably my favorite.
Another jewel tone.
So beautiful!

Shopping tips

It doesn't need to be Black Friday to get a good deal. Great deals happen all the time, all you have to do is find them. As a teen, I don't have a ton of money to spend when I go shopping, so I've developed a few tips:

1) Don't be afraid to shop at second hand or consignment shops! Often, people bring things in that they have never even worn, usually the tag is still on. You can buy these things for up to 80% off the original price!

2) If you have a smart phone, there are tons of apps you can download that have all sorts of coupons to a wide variety of stores. I use one called Snip Snap, which allows you to "snip" coupons on the app and "snap" coupons you already have and upload them to the app so you don't have to lug them around in your wallet.

3) Always head straight to the sales rack. Walk past the full priced items and go straight to the sale section. This will prevent you from splurging on something that will eventually be on the sales rack anyway.

4) If you are planning to splurge on something expensive, be sure to shop around. If you find something in the store, tear yourself away from it and do some research first! Most of the time, things will be cheaper online, or at another store.
